this page is the official home for north noble, a lo-fi
recording project started by neill miller.
north noble was started in late 2003. the latest recorded
release is titled love of everyone and is available now for download or
purchase.
here's a picture at a performance at pint (chicago) on february

you can listen to a live performance of broken town from a
performance in morgantown, wv right
here!
Updates:
07-01-2006 - after over a solid year since the last batch of
new songs, i've just released a new collection of songs titled love
of everyone. it was tentatively titled connections, but i
decided against that title as it was nearing completion for various
reasons. regardless, i have cds that are available for order ($4ppd),
but of course as always, the downloads are available for free on the
download page. enjoy! -n.
06-11-2006 - i've just found a b-side from the previous
collections recording sessions. and so i've released leaning
toward you on the covers page.
check it out if you're interested! it's great to hear how this
project has progressed, as i'm very excited about the upcoming
release. i hope to have the latest collection out before the end of
the month, so stay posted! all copies will come with a couple free
north noble stickers as well. stay with me. -n.
04-28-2006 - i've been writing up a storm, as usual, but i'm
terribly behind on recording at the moment. i want to take my time
for the next release, although it's now half complete already. i'm
also in the process of switching to a completely computer based
recording setup, so i'm learning all new stuff like how to use cubase
le. it's taking time, and it will be odd because the next release
(tentatively titled connections) will be a mix of the new and
the old process. should be interesting! anyway, stay posted. also,
feel free to check out the relatively new north noble myspace page. always
looking for new friends, so don't be shy to add me if you like what
you hear!! that's about all for now. take care. -n.
02-08-2006 - well, it's been a while, but rest assured i've
been working on the next north noble release and just finished
performing tonight at a venue called pint in chicago. keep an
eye out for upcoming releases :-)
08-13-2005 - i've added a paypal link so that you can easily
buy the latest release, mend, using your existing paypal
account. check it out on the purchase
page!
08-12-2005 - hello everyone, it's been a while! performances
have mostly tapered off after playing in morgantown, but that show
went so well, i'm not sure there's ever a need to perform again! ok,
i'm kidding there. i wanted to share the news that this project has
been a little slowed due to me joining scale model as their new bass
player. i'm still in the process of working on a new release, but it
will likely take a while from now while i'm getting ramped up and
re-adjusted to playing with a full band again. i'd love to meet you
if you happen to make it to a scale model show, so check the show
schedules often and come on out! and as always, keep an eye out for
updates here. thanks! xoxo -neill.
06-18-2005 - RELEASE NOTICE: at long last, the newest
collection of songs titled mend is available for download and
your listening pleasure on the download
page! This is the third official release by Neill Miller under the
North Noble project. This release is under the same license as the
previous works, so feel free to download and share this music.
Feedback is always appreciated! Two b-side tracks will be released at
some point in the near future. xoxo -neill.
06-11-2005 - i've made a lot of progress cleaning up the tracks
in preparation for the future release. it will be titled mend,
and it will include a song of the same title. i'm trying frantically
to produce a cd insert layout so that i can make a small run (diy) of
cds to give away or sell for very cheap. if i can't complete this by
july 1, it likely won't happen. also, i've added a shows/performances page listing some of the
places where you can catch live glimpses of this project. when
performing with alana, we do not call ourselves north noble,
but we haven't called ourselves anything so far. while we play some
songs released under this project name, alana has added some original
content and material, which is outside the scope of this project.
perhaps in the future we'll reveal the name we've chosen. in the
meantime, thanks for your continued support! -neill.
05-21-2005 - well, alana (the guitarist mentioned from the
previous post) and i have been playing and it's working out pretty
well so far. we played an open mic at a local bar on 05-19-2005 and
it went really well, all things considered. about the new north noble
release, it's nearly complete. i'm shooting for around 10 tracks on
this one, and there's no doubt going to be a b-side or two. i'll keep
you posted, but it's looking like it'll be ready in about a month or
two. thanks for checking back! xoxo -neill.
04-19-2005 - it's been many months since the last update, but
rest assured there's plenty of new stuff in the pipes. i've mostly
finished recording the next EP, but depending on the circumstances, it
may be a full length. also, i've been working on my live performance
skills and have joined with another guitarist to help pull it off! so
far so good, although i'll warn now that we might play under an
alternate band/project name. i'd like to be playing out more in
general, so stay tuned. expect more information about the release by
next month! xoxo -neill.
10-11-2004 - I've updated the packaging page, as it now better reflects
what I'd like the inserts to look like for all currently released
material. i've also updated the covers page to include some b-side
tracks. i had been meaning to do that for a while now, and finally
just got around to it now.
09-18-2004 - RELEASE NOTICE: I've made available the
second collection of songs titled the things that you are
singing. This is the second official release by Neill Miller
under the North Noble project. This release is under the same license
as the first, so feel free to download and share this music available
now at the download page! Feedback is always
appreciated.
08-13-2004 - I've added a place to download some songs that
I've written that are not a part of the north noble project. you can
see that site here. also,
expect some north noble b-side downloads coming soon as i'm preparing
the next release.
04-26-2004 - I've recorded a cover of mikey
iafrate's original song called the war in my sky is you
from his past release called love
struck rookie. more information is available on the north
noble covers page (including a
free download of the song).
for this project, every original song written and recorded is released
under a special copyright license that
allows you to legally download, distribute, modify, resample, or remix
it with a few important
restrictions. please see the license page or contact me for more
information about what you can and can't do with materials found on
this website.
neill miller has been home recording lo-fi music since 1993. most
recently, songs were recorded under the project name of alexis
shoulder. another somewhat recent project involving a
collaboration with indie rock artist m. iafrate is letter to
edison.
north noble is my most recent recording project. while I can't
devote more than a small and limited free time to recording project's
such as north noble, I've always believed that music created
should be shared with those that are interested in it. because of
this, I researched available licenses to apply to music and found one
that suits my interest. I feel that the license that this music is
released under is a powerful one, and I encourage other artists and
musicians to consider similar licenses (e.g. the ones described at creativecommons.org). also,
if you enjoy any of this music, or have any questions or collaboration
ideas, please contact me at
north_noble@benzedrinerecords.com.
